the cake is a lie... by msanogi the cake is a lie... by msanogi
LiZn suggested that a portal wallpaper should be made for Cageyjay so... that's what happened =D

When I first heard about the "cake is a lie" thing from Portal, for the longest I thought everyone was saying "the cake is ALIVE."

So now you have this lovely treat full of lies and deceit.... and people... ...

*Blinks.* *Cocks head sideways.* *Chuckles.* *Laughs.* *Sits down to laugh.* *Falls sideways, laughing.* *Passes out in paroxysms of mirth.*

*Snags for wallpaper.*

Oh, gosh, and those tile floors! I run down those tile floors in my dreams, sometimes!

Now, I've gotta ask: how did you do the view of the cake through the blue portal? It almost looks like you did a whole scene with two cakes, then slapped a partition between them and cut a hole in it. Except you got the edge sort of irregular. How did you do it?

You've got it exactly right actually =P I did everything in Illustrator this time around and really only used Photoshop to make it a .png In illustrator there's a function that allows you to add/subtract/etc. shapes from each other, so I created a vector using the brush tool with an artistic brush for the portal, grouped it with the partition, subtracted it and that's how you get an irregular edge. I made a copy of the brush shape and 3-D rotated it and added it to the partition afterwards. That was the easy part, the harder part was the floor as, using the 3-D rotate, it ended up being WAY bigger than the actual canvas and I had to work really zoomed out. ;;;
